R&D for Lifetime of Life

The quality of child healthcare websites.

Dr Paul Scullard tested the Internet by using Google to find UK sites giving results on 5 search queries related to child healthcare. He then evaluated the first 100 responses for each condition against best practice.

50% of the responses were unrelated to the question, 39% were accurate and 11% gave inaccurate information.

Prominent “sponsored links” were particularly poor.

News sites were accurate 55% of the time.

The authors recommended that UK government sites, such as NHS Choices and NHS Direct should be used.

For the record TeamMcCallum has no control over which adverts are linked to this blog. Further, we do not offer best practice advice on a topic – we simply publish research in plain, simple English. 🙂
